Highway 9. So many of us drive up and down this highway, without thinking of the people that came before us. Here, and, I hope I have done justice to the beauty of the women of the Santa Cruz people, I wanted to depict a woman creating what we see now. Planting the seeds, watering the life, bringing the stars. On her shoulder is the mischievous coyote, depicting human nature, and possibly what is to come. As she dances down the trail where life is coming to fruition and shadows of the future begin to come to light. From her jug flows the San Lorenzo river. In her hand the heart of the valley. Another hand holds the California poppy that symbolizes imagination, and beauty.
